Featuring ancient roots but now widespread around the world, this dessert comes from the union of a few simple ingredients. There are several theories regarding its origin: some believe it was already present in ancient Rome while others attribute it to the Arabs, who then imported it to the regions of Southern Italy around the 11th century; others still hypothesize its birth in France or in Spain.
What is certain is that its different variants, tastes and textures are widespread everywhere in Italy and known in various countries abroad where they are appreciated for their taste and sweetness. Aiello’s almond nougat follows traditions but also offers a soft consistency. Moreover, it is made with only Italian almonds, honey, and Italian eggs to underline the character and provenance of this prestigious dessert.
